When will The Rising of The Shield Hero Season 2 to be aired? The second season of the franchise may not have an official date yet, but the fans will happy to know that it is now official. The announcement was made in June 2019 at Crunchyroll expo. The news of its official announcement was also confirmed via show maker’s twitter handle. However, no release date has been made official, but we could The Rising of The Shield Hero Season 2 by late 2020 or at the crack of 2021.

What is The Rising of The Shield Hero all about?

This fantasy anime series is based on the Japanese web series of the same name. It follows a 20-years-old boy named Naofumi Iwatani who gets summoned to a fantasy world, along with three otherworldly heroes wielding a sword, spear, bow, and shield.  They all were summoned for a reason – they have to protect the lands from the waves of calamity. The Kingdom of Melromarc summons the four heroes to defend them.

It’s a story about the normal character being transported to an alternate world – it is by no means an original concept- but what makes The Rising of The Shield Hero stand out is what happens to our main character. Naofumi Iwatani is a fairly standard protagonist in his introduction wanting to do good but being fairly awkward while trying.

When the parties are being formed, due to lack of his offensive abilities with a shield, he doesn’t gain any members but Princess Malty joins up with him. The two spend the whole day with each other roaming around the kingdom purchasing the armor and supplies, and the day goes seemingly well.

The next morning Naofumi Iwatani brought in front of the king accused of raping Malty. This accusation strips pretty much everything – respect from the kingdom, trust from the other heroes. He loses all of his money and he is branded a criminal.

A lie he cannot disprove ruined him and it’s that setup that is the main draw to The Rising of The Shield Hero series that makes it class apart.

It is likely to be said that one of the biggest reason this anime got so popular in the United States is due to #Me-too Movement – a time where all sort of female actors, employees and fans are coming out with all sorts of sexual assault allegations – some real, some fake but overall a complete disaster of a situation. It is by no means the only reason, but that’s how we all heard of this show.

The Rising of The Shield Hero Season 1 got 25 episodes which got released in January 2019. The makers also made official that there would be The Rising of The Shield Hero Season 3 as well. The series became a nearly overnight, as the sudden influx of views helped rated 8/10 at IMDB platform.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2: Speculated Plot

The Rising of The Shield Hero Season 2 is expected to have more new characters. The story will show the protagonist Naofumi Iwatani, young demi-human girl Raphtalia and bird alike monster Filo confronting a new enemy, which is speculated to be more powerful than its previous counterpart.

The forthcoming season of The Rising of The Shield Hero is believed to be full of action, fight, new combat styles, and of course more villain.
